MUSEUM OF ACEH


Museum of Aceh was founded in the reign of the Netherlands Indies which was inaugurated by the use of Civil and Military Governor of Aceh General HNA Swart on July 31, 1915. At that time the building was in the form of a Aceh traditional house. The building was from the Pavilion Aceh that placed in the arena Colonial Exhibition (De Koloniale Tentoonsteling) in Semarang on August 13 until November 15,1914.

At the time of the exhibition in Semarang, Aceh Pavilion showcased collections. There were most of the private property of FW Stammeshaus which were in 1915 that became the first Curator of Museum of Aceh. Besides, Stammeshaus's collection, it was exhibited the collection in the form of heirlooms from magnifying of Aceh. Thus Pavilion was the most complete collection.












Rumoh Aceh was the first building in the museum in Aceh, then there was only a slight improvement in the building until now





The veranda of the Governor of Aceh was built in 1880 by the former Sultan's kingdom heritage. The pavilion was one of the early development of the colonial Netherlands in Aceh. The veranda was originally place of the former of the Governor of Netherlands residence. And then, this place has already occupied by the Governer of Aceh.
